November is show month for livestock producers in Western Canada. Farmfair International (Farm Fair) runs November 5–8, 2026 at the Edmonton EXPO Centre, and Canadian Western Agribition 2026 follows November 23–28 at the REAL District in Regina. That’s two chances to climb into a squeeze chute, work a head gate and look at welds and hinges up close instead of in a brochure.
For a cow-calf or backgrounding operation, the trade show halls are where shopping gets real — if you walk in with a plan. This guide covers how to prepare, what to ask at the booth, how to compare quotes once you’re home, and how to time orders so equipment is working before the first calves arrive. It ends with a table of livestock equipment suppliers listed on FarmPages in Saskatchewan and Alberta.
FarmPages is a directory: we don’t sell equipment or track who exhibits where. Use the livestock equipment suppliers on FarmPages to line up who you want to talk to, and ask them directly whether they’ll be at either show.
Quick answer: Agribition 2026 (Canadian Western Agribition) runs November 23–28, 2026 at the REAL District in Regina, and Farmfair International runs November 5–8, 2026 at the Edmonton EXPO Centre. Use either show to shortlist livestock equipment, get written quotes, and order built-to-order gear by early December for calving season.
1 Agribition and Farmfair 2026 at a Glance
| Show | 2026 dates | Venue | City |
|---|---|---|---|
| Farmfair International | November 5–8, 2026 | Edmonton EXPO Centre | Edmonton, AB |
| Canadian Western Agribition | November 23–28, 2026 | REAL District | Regina, SK |
Both shows pair livestock shows and sales with a commercial trade show. Hours, hall layouts and admission are set by the organizers, so check agribition.com and farmfairinternational.com before you drive in.
Timing: Farmfair comes first. If you’re reading this after November 8, the same plan works for Agribition later in the month and for follow-up calls to anyone you met in Edmonton. Making a trip of it? The Regina-area farm equipment suppliers and Edmonton-area farm equipment suppliers hubs list dealers you can visit on the same trip.
2 Plan Before You Go
A show day disappears fast. Decide before you leave the yard what you’re shopping for and what you’re only curious about.
Your numbers
Head count, calving start date, typical cow and bull weights, and your biggest group size. A supplier can’t size a tub, alley or bale feeder without them.
Your layout
A rough sketch of corrals and pens with gate widths, distances, and where power and water are. Phone photos of the current setup help a supplier see the problem.
Your limits
A budget range, what your loader can lift, your truck’s towing capacity and hitch type, and the date equipment has to be working.
Then sort your list into three columns: must have before calving, would like before turnout, and next year. Spend booth time on the first column.
3 Questions to Ask at the Booth
- Is the show price good after the show, for how long, and can I have it in writing?
- What exactly is included — head gate, palpation cage, side exits, scale-ready base, gates?
- Is this unit in stock or built to order, and what’s the lead time right now?
- What does delivery to my yard cost, and who unloads and sets it up?
- Manual or hydraulic — and what power source does the hydraulic version need?
- Where is the nearest dealer for parts and service, and which parts wear first?
- What warranty applies, what voids it, and who handles a claim?
- Can I see one working on a farm near me?
Watch for: Show specials are real, but so is pressure. Don’t hand over a deposit until you have a written quote with the model number, options, freight, setup and delivery date. A good supplier will still honour a fair deal a week later.
If a chute is on your list, read our manual vs hydraulic squeeze chute comparison before the show so you know which questions matter for your herd size.
4 What to Look At by Category
Each category has a few details that separate a good buy from a headache. Use your booth time on these.
Handling
Squeeze chutes, head gates, tubs, alleys and panels. Work the head gate yourself, listen for noise, check access to the neck and flank, and look at how gates latch. Ask about alley width for your cattle size.
Feeding
Bale processors, bale feeders, bunks and roller mills. Look at hay waste, wall height, how the unit moves, and whether your tractor can run it. Browse livestock feeder and auger suppliers, and see our hay feeder comparison.
Watering
Frost-free, no-power and solar systems. Ask how cold the waterer is designed for, its power use, installation and how you service it in January. Our cold-climate cattle waterer guide compares the options.
Shelters & windbreaks
Portable windbreaks, calf shelters and fabric or steel buildings. Check snow and wind ratings, anchoring, and whether it fits through your gates. See livestock shelter suppliers.
Trailers
Stock trailers in a range of lengths and floors. Check floor material, ventilation, gate design and payload against your truck. Our livestock trailer buying guide covers the details.
Scales
Platform scales under chutes and alleys. Ask about load bar capacity, indicator features, data export and whether the scale fits your chute footprint.
5 Comparing Quotes After the Show
Lay quotes side by side within a week, while the details are fresh. Price is only one row.
| What to compare | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Price and show discount | Know when the show price expires |
| Included options | Head gates, side panels and scale bases are often extra |
| Freight and setup | Heavy steel on a long haul adds up |
| Lead time | Built-to-order equipment has to arrive before your calving date |
| Warranty and parts | Who stocks wear parts, and how far away they are |
| Power and hookups | Hydraulic units need a power pack or tractor; some waterers need power |
| Fit for the future | Will it still work if the herd grows or the corrals move? |
Price at least one supplier who wasn’t at the show. The livestock equipment suppliers in Saskatchewan and livestock equipment suppliers in Alberta pages on FarmPages list local options to compare against.
6 Buying Timeline for Calving Season
If you calve from January to April, a November show leaves just enough time — with little slack.
| When | What to do |
|---|---|
| Early to mid November | Shortlist at Farmfair or Agribition; collect brochures and written quotes |
| Late November | Compare quotes, call local suppliers, ask neighbours who run the same equipment |
| Early December | Order anything built to order; confirm delivery dates in writing |
| Late December to early January | Take delivery, set up handling equipment, test hydraulics and waterers |
| 2–4 weeks before first calves | Run cows through the new setup; fix gate swings, latches and footing |

Agribition & Farm Fair 2026 FAQ
When is Agribition 2026?
Canadian Western Agribition 2026 runs November 23 to 28, 2026 at the REAL District in Regina, Saskatchewan. It combines livestock shows and sales with a large trade show. Check agribition.com for daily schedules, hours and tickets before you go, because event details are set by the organizers and can change.
When and where is Farmfair International 2026?
Farmfair International 2026, often called Farm Fair, runs November 5 to 8, 2026 at the Edmonton EXPO Centre in Edmonton, Alberta. It is a major livestock show with a trade show attached. Confirm hours, halls and admission details on farmfairinternational.com before you travel.
Are the suppliers listed on FarmPages exhibiting at Agribition or Farmfair?
FarmPages does not track exhibitor lists, so a FarmPages listing is not a claim that a supplier will be at either show. Contact suppliers through their FarmPages listings to ask whether they will attend, where to find them, or whether you can see equipment at their yard or a customer’s farm instead.
Should I buy livestock equipment at a farm show?
A show is the best place to compare equipment side by side and get questions answered, and show pricing can be worthwhile. Get a written quote with the model, options, freight, setup and delivery date before paying a deposit, and compare it against one or two local suppliers once you are home.
How early should I order equipment for calving season?
If you calve between January and April, aim to order built-to-order handling equipment, calving pens or shelters by early December so it can be delivered and set up by early January. Lead times vary by supplier and product, so ask at the booth and confirm delivery dates in writing.
