Editorial Policy & Listing Standards

FarmPages.com is the online directory of The Book – Where Farmers Look, published since 1978. Farmers use our buyer guides, local supplier pages and company listings to decide what to buy and who to call, so we want to be clear about how that content is made.

This page sets out our standards: how buyer guides are researched and written, how we keep editorial content separate from advertising, how supplier listings get onto the site, how local and province pages are built, and how to tell us when something is wrong.

1 Who We Are

The Book is an annual agri-business directory, published each January and distributed to 154,500 farms across Canada and the United States in 2026. FarmPages.com is its online side: 81 directory categories and 472 supplier listings covering equipment, supplies and services.

FarmPages is a directory. We do not sell equipment, hold inventory or set prices. Our job is to help you find suppliers and compare options, then contact those businesses directly. You can read our history on the About page, meet the people behind The Book on Our Team, or see the key figures on our FarmPages fact sheet.

2 How Buyer Guides Are Researched and Written

Buyer guides are written by the FarmPages Editorial Team to help farmers and ranchers compare equipment, supplies and services before they talk to a dealer. Each guide aims to give real decision criteria — sizing rules, checklists, comparison tables and the questions worth asking — rather than sales copy.

  • Manufacturer specifications: capacities, dimensions, power requirements and features come from published manufacturer specifications and product information.
  • Public extension and government resources: agronomic, safety and handling guidance is checked against public resources from agricultural extension services and government agencies.
  • Dealer input: practical points on how equipment is specified, set up and serviced reflect input from dealers and suppliers who work with farmers every day.
  • Prices as typical ranges, with dates: any cost figures are shown as typical ranges labelled with the year they apply to (for example, “as of 2026”). They vary by region, dealer and specification and are not quotes.

What our guides are not: FarmPages does not hands-on test products, and our guides are not lab tests or product reviews. Always confirm specifications, pricing and availability with the supplier before you buy.

3 Independence From Advertising

FarmPages and The Book carry paid advertising. We keep that advertising separate from our editorial guides so that readers can rely on what the guides say.

What advertising includes

  • An advertisement in the annual print edition of The Book
  • A company profile on FarmPages.com
  • The ability to post special offers, promotions and product announcements

What advertising does not buy

  • Placement or a mention inside an editorial buyer guide
  • A higher position in the supplier mentions on guides or local pages
  • Changes to a guide’s advice or conclusions

When guides and local pages mention suppliers, they are presented alphabetically and neutrally. Brand names appear only as neutral examples of what dealers commonly carry, not as endorsements.

4 How Supplier Listings Work

Company listings are different from editorial guides. The information on a listing — the business description, products and services, contact details, locations and any special offers — is supplied by the business itself. We publish it to help farmers find and contact suppliers, but we cannot independently verify every claim a business makes, so confirm details directly with the company.

  • Tied to The Book: agricultural companies that place an advertisement in The Book receive access to a company profile on FarmPages.com.
  • Category placement: each listing appears in the directory categories that match the products and services it offers.
  • Special offers: listed companies can post promotions, seasonal offers, product announcements and rebates, which also appear on the Special Offers page.
  • Updating a listing: businesses can request changes through the FarmPages contact page or through their regional sales rep, listed on the How to Advertise page.

If your company is not listed yet, see how to list your agri-business on FarmPages.

5 Corrections and Updates

We want our guides and pages to be accurate. If you spot a factual error, an out-of-date price range or a broken detail, please tell us.

  • Send a message through the contact form, or call 204-416-9970.
  • Include the page address, what you believe is wrong, and the correct information — with a source if you have one.
  • Corrections to a company listing are handled with the business that supplied it, since listing information comes from them.

Guides carry a published or updated date. We review guides periodically so that specifications, price ranges and references stay current, and we update the date when a guide is materially revised.

6 How Local and Province Pages Are Built

Local pages such as Grain Systems Suppliers in Saskatchewan and Farm Building Suppliers in Manitoba help farmers shortlist suppliers in their own region. They follow a simple method:

  • Suppliers shown are FarmPages listings with an address in that province. They are presented alphabetically and neutrally.
  • A local page is not a complete list of every business in the market, and inclusion is not an endorsement.
  • Capacity and price tables are typical ranges as of the year stated and vary by model, dealer and region.
  • Service areas vary, so check with each supplier whether they deliver, install or service in your part of the province.

Tip: use a local page to build a shortlist, then open the full directory category to make sure you have not missed a nearby dealer before you request quotes.
